Contribution to the RepIt Project
I worked with Julian MacLean, Miguel Cramer and Raoel Bergen on an mobile application project. For our project assignment by professor Padhu Sheshaiyer we have chosen to build an application (app). it is based on the hello Purr App of the appinvertor.mit.edu platform.
The app would have to contain:
The app should give a platform where files can be linked which have been uploaded earlier to a blog site. This would provide a faster working app which can continually be changed when needed. The QR code for the app would be given to the students just before school ends. The app would provide a button which would give an overview of the lesson of the day. Another button would give video material regarding the lesson. This could be either extra material or just the lesson of the day. Another button would provide just the teacher’s voice sample explaining the lesson outline. And the last button would give extra material for the lesson like tasks that could be done at home or outside of the class. With the mobile option of the app the student would have the opportunity to access the lesson from anywhere he or she wants at any time he or she wants to.
We used several frameworks to finally reach the definitive design of the app.
Some frameworks that we used are 6-3-5, The Bono's Hats and Design Thinking.
I feel honored that I was given the opportunity to use one of my lessons to start building and testing the app.
My contribution to building this app is that I was part of some fierce discussions together with my teammates about the effectivity and workability of the app.
I also worked together with the others on the design of the app and its functionality. After the app started working according to our specifications, I had tried out by some students and colleagues. They then gave feedback about the app and how they experienced it.
The students as well as the teachers were enthusiastic that such an app even existed and that they would make good use of it.
They also expressed that they would like to see similar apps in the future designed specifically for education which will make teaching more pleasant.
I am proud to be part of a group that we were able to build this app without continuous guidance. We only got hold the basics and despite that we were able to achieve . This is quite an achievement, I think.
